Editor Window

The screen capture below illustrates some of the features of the IDL Editor. Each new file that you open displays in a new Editor. Multiple editor windows can be opened in the editor area, but only one can be active at a time. Each open file is shown as a tab in the Editor area. An asterisk (*) in the tab indicates unsaved changes in the file.

Right-clicking over an editor displays a context menu that allows you to access the most frequently used commands.

The gutter (the border at the left margin) displays icons that flag errors, warnings, or problems. This border also displays any breakpoints, bookmarks, and tasks that have been added. View details of any of these icons by moving the mouse cursor over them.
