Visualize Perspective

The Visualize Perspective's name is descriptive; it is a tool to help you visualize your data in various ways. By providing easy ways to import data into IDL variables and create visualizations from those variables, the Visualize Perspective helps you get the information you need more efficiently.

The functionality available in the Visualize Perspective is straightforward and extensible. You can add your own visualization actions to reflect what you need for your own work. If you need to do something more complex than you can accomplish in the Visualize Perspective, you can write an IDL program.

Views in the Visualize Perspective

While the Visualize perspective gives you many of the same views as in other perspectives, the Tool Palette and the Variables views are the two that you may use the most.

When to Use the Visualize Perspective

You might find the Visualize perspective most useful when you are working on the following types of tasks:

Opening data files so that variables are visible in the Variables view

Dragging and dropping variables onto a Visualization Tool or action bar

Viewing and analyzing the data displayed in an iTool window
